The Sendlinger Tor was built in 1318 by Ludwig the Bavarian as one of the three remaining town gates belonging to the fortification. In 1905 the original three arches were replaced by one large single arch. The restauration was finished in 1982.

Neuschwanstein Castle of King Ludwig II was built on a rugged hill and finished in 1868. The style was that of old German knights’ castles. It has 1.3 million visitors each year.
